Broad Area refers to the different fields/ subjects for which the experiments are developed online.The entire list of Broad Areas of a selected university is accessible by either clicking on the "Content Manager" icon to select the desired broad area, or by directly clicking on the label "Broad Area" under the "Content Manager" on the left side navigation tree menu of the page. It also allows the user (privileged roles) to add, edit, hide and delete an area in the selected university.
A privileged user can add a new broad area under the selected university.To do this the user can select the university (Select University) and then click on the label ‘Add New Broad Area’.A text box appears where the name of the broad area and a short description about it can be given.To confirm the addition, the user needs to click the ‘Add’ button which generates a message "New Broad Area created".
A user can edit a particular broad area of the selected university by clicking on the ‘Edit‘ icon shown in the column next to the description of the Broad Area. This brings up a text box with the existing information in it. Necessary changes can be made and updated using the ‘Save’ button which generates a message ‘Saved’.
To delete a particular broad area the user can click on the “Delete" icon shown in the column next to the description of the Broad Area. A pop-up window appears asking to confirm the deletion, which can be confirmed by clicking the "OK" button.
A privileged can hide a particular broad area from the main view is required.This can be done by clicking on the eye icon shown in the column next to the selected broad area. The function will not display the selected broad area on the site, but it can still be viewed /edited in the dashboard by the admin or a user who has direct link to the broad area. To show that the broad area is hidden, the icon of a closed eye will appear near the hidden broad area. So long as the page is kept hidden it will not be indexed by the search engines.
A user can any time change the order in which the broad area is displayed on the home screen by simply clicking and dragging the already added broad areas to the desired location. Once done, the changes are reflected in the specified order.
