To add the theory and procedure of an experiment, the content type for those particular tabs will be ‘Text’.   Text content can we added to the website using an html editor. This html editor is powered by various tools.

 

 

FCK Editor Plug-In:

The FCK editor is a lightweight third party text editor used in the collaborative framework. Using this editor, we can write text and format it, create tables and do much more.

Formula editor

To insert or edit equations/ formulas in an experiment, a user can use the “Formula Editor” tool provided in the text editor.  Clicking on the icon, ‘√x‘ in the editor, brings up the WIRIS Formula Editor, where the user can insert/edit an equation. The 'WIRIS Formula Editor' is a  third party tool in the collaborative framework, used to insert or edit an equation.

Once done, the user can click the ‘Accept’ button to copy the formula to the desired position in the text pad of the particular experiment.

File Upload

To upload a file to the live site, the user can click on the tool, '' in the html editor where a window pops up through which the user can click on the ‘Upload’ tab and  specify  the location of the file to be uploaded. To avoid doing this manually, the user can click the ‘Browse’ button and send the file to the server by clicking on the button ‘Send it to the Server’ and then click  ‘Ok’ to publish the generated URL on the site.

The maximum allowed size to upload a document is 10mb. A separate folder is provided for each university in the server.

Note: To avoid showing the link on the page, use a hyperlink of the uploaded file on the site.   

For example, “Click here to refer the document”.  In this example, the user can click on the link ’Click here’ to retrieve the file.  To link the URL to the word, highlight the word and then upload the file through the same method.
