Assignments

  1. Calculate the moment of inertia when a magnet of dimensions 3cm X 1cm is used to calculate the time period of a vibration magnetometer. Also, calculate the value of mBH?
  2. Use a 5cm X 2cm bar magnet to calculate the moment of the bar magnet and the horizontal intensity of the earth’s magnetic field. Calculate the values of mBH using a vibration magnetometer and m/BH using a deflection magnetometer at Tan A position.
  3. Calculate and compare the value of m/BH for a bar 4cm X 2cm bar magnet using a deflection magnetometer at Tan A, Tan B and Tan C positions and hence calculate the horizontal intensity of the magnetic field.
  4. Find out the Earth’s magnetic field intensity when a 6cm X 3cm magnet is used.
  5. Use a 7cm X 2cm bar magnet to calculate the moment of the bar magnet and the horizontal intensity of the earth’s magnetic field. Calculate the values of mBH using a vibration magnetometer and m/BH using a deflection magnetometer at Tan B position.
