Calculation of λmax of Organic Compounds Using Woodward Fieser Rules

1.     Select Conjugated diene / Ketone / Aromatic .

 

2.     For Conjugated diene correlations,  
 
i)              Enter the Base value in the box.
 
ii)             Enter the value of Alkyl substituent or Ring residue attached to the parent diene.
 
iii)            Enter the value of Double bond extending conjugation.
 
iv)            Enter the value of Exocyclic double bonds.
 
v)             Enter the value of Polar groups.
 
vi)            Enter the total λmax value.
 
vii)           Click “Submit” Button.
 
3.     For α , β Unsaturated Carbonyl compounds or Ketones,
 
i)             Enter the Base value.
 
ii)            Enter the value of Alkyl substituent or Ring residue in α / β / γ / δ position.
  
iii)           Enter the value of Polar groups in α / β / γ / δ position.
 
iv)           Enter the value of Double bond extending conjugation.
 
v)            Enter the value of Homodiene compound.
 
vi)           Enter the value of Exocyclic double bonds.
 
vii)          Enter the total λmax value.
 
viii)         Click “Submit” Button.
 
4.     For Aromatic compounds,
 
i)              Enter the Base value.
 
ii)             Enter the value of Alkyl group or ring residue in ortho / para / meta position.
  
iii)            Enter the value of Polar groups in ortho / para / meta position.
  
iv)            Enter the total λmax value.
 
v)             Click “Submit” Button.
