Assignment:

  1.   Let L =   be the Leslie matrix for an animal population with 3 age groups. On average, how many female offspring do females in the second age group produce?
  2.

  3.  Let L = be the Leslie matrix for an animal population with 3 age groups. Suppose that currently there are 100 females in the  first age group, 60 in the second age group and 50 in the third age group. How many females will be in the first age group in the next time period?  (Hint x1 = Lx0)
  4.  Let L = be the Leslie matrix for a population, and let the initial population vector be  x0 = . Find the number of individuals in each age class after three years?
  5.

  1. Calculate fx for each age class.
  2. Calculate total number of individuals and finite rate of change.
  3. Use the Leslie-matrix to predict population size and age structure for the first 2 years.
  4. Calculate Rate of growth per generation (R0), Cohort generation time (Tc), Rate of growth per individual in continuous time (r).
  5. Find the behavior of survivor ship curve.
  6. Plot the growth of rat population in each year.
  7. Compare the proportion of number individual to age class for each year (Plot the proportion of individuals in each age class in each year).
